Shabby Chic Altered Frame

Hey there! I know its been a while since I last posted, but it has been a crazy journey that this cancer has led me on, but I am almost to the finish line! On my journey, I was asked by Beverly of The Piece by Piece to return to her DT for a term and I have happily accepted! So for this months creation, I decided to alter a metal picture frame that I found at Goodwill! I wanted to create a shabby chic wonderland of yummy layers and art mediums! The original frame was a dark metal and to cover it, I used gesso mixed with milk paint, which didn't necessarily color the gesso as I wanted, but added a fun texture! I just added the milk paint powder to the gesso without mixing the paint first and it got all thick and gooey and bumpy and was perfect! then I decided that I didn't want any color on the metal stand, so I took plain white gesso after that and used a pouncy brush to give it some finer texture. Perfect! I took acrylic white paint in a peach color and used an old toothbrush to splatter some of that color onto the stand. To add further texture I add some "dots" with Liquid Pearls by Ranger and also used a 12x12 Prima stencil and modeling paste.  I used an old paper line by Prima, called 'Almanac' as my basis for color. I wanted this piece to signify "Moments in Time/Love", so you will notice that all the embellishments have something to do with time and holding onto love- -except for the flowers...they just make the piece pretty! The center heart piece, was a wooden Valentine embellishment that I bought from Michaels Craft store. It already had the smaller  wooden heart with burlap  and the metal tag hanging off the top edge. I pried off the small heart to add the prima paper, then glued that piece back on and repainted the metal tag with gesso to add its d├ęcor as well. I used lots of embellishments by Prima and Tim Holtz!  Of course, none of this would have been possible without the beautiful laces, metal embellishments, resin flowers and charms from Beverly's store! Here's the pics:
