A Place In Time-DT project for The Piece by Piece

This month I decided to alter a bird feeder. I saw this bird feeder in a local store and new that I could do something cool with it! I wanted to turn it into a little bird "house".  Since it only opened from the top by lifting the lid off, I decided to use some wire cutters and snip a rectangle opening. Once that was complete, I began altering my project with a thick coat of texture. I mixed acylic paint with sand to achieve this effect. I used a vintage white color. I decided to use creams and aquas for this particular color scheme, because it matched an earlier project that I was creating for someone. This project can be found under the blogpost heading, "Got Supplies?" if you are interested. This is a gift for someone and this person requested a decorated clock, so I added a clock to the inside of this new bird "house". I wanted the clock to hang inside its new home, and I needed to have the clock be removable so the battery compartment could be accessed.  I decided to add a Tim Holtz swivel clasp which I attached to a 7 gypsies clip that I had glued at the top of the clock. At the top of the feeder where the lid comes off, was a bar (already built into the feeder) so I glued a small sized clothespin on top of the bar and placed the swivel clasp (with clock attached) inside the indentation of the clothespin....which provided an easy on/off with a pinch of the clothespin.   After this clock idea came to life, I then began decorating with tons of yummy flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, butterflies, a Prima Resin Fairy and metal lamp post (the lamp post is inside), my signature "X,O" that I love to put on every project, and metal adornments from Bead Landing. Since there was a clock in the house, I decided to add a few Prima metal numbers around the project to further enhance the idea of the clock theme and time. Of course, to achieve a most perfect completion of my project..I added lots of yumminess from The Piece by Piece!! I used the beautiful resin sitting bird in aqua resting on top of the bird nest (from my stash) because every bird "house" needs a bird and some eggs! I also added some beautiful aqua colored candy gems, wheat sprays, rosettes, another resin bird (around the back of the house) and topped it all off with some beautiful venice scallop trim on the roof!  The products used from The Piece by Piece will be under the pictures and remember the direct link to the store is on the sidebar to the right. Shabby Chic Chalkboard (Guest DT project for Tresors de Luxe)

This month I decided to finally get a project completed that I have been wanting to accomplish for over a year!  It was one of those projects that I knew I would get around to someday. Well, "someday" is finally here! I picked up this chalkboard at a sale for $2.00! it measures about 27 inches tall and about 13 inches wide. I decided to go with one of my favorite paperlines by Pink Paislee called London Market. I added a little bit of accent paper using the Teresa Collins Vintage Finds paper line. For texturing the entire board, I used an acrylic paint/sand combo. I then went to town using most of my favorite embellishments by Prima, Time Holtz, Farmhouse and FabScraps. Paper flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts, wooden words, X & O letters, acrylic butterflies, and a pre-made wooden fence also add a little chic to my shabby! On the wooden words and letters, I first used a layer of Gesso, added some Tim Holtz crackle paint, then on the wooden words only, stamped over the top with a script stamp. In all my projects I  like to add some fun details so this particular project contains a lightbulb, spring coils, a vintage cabinet handle, and even cheesecloth!  I also added finishing touches to the tops of all the embellishments with the acrylic/sand texture paint to add even more dimension!! Of course, none of this would be half as beautiful if I didnt have the yummy goodness from Tresors de Luxe Etsy Shop to bring it all together. I was honored to use some beautiful lace and flowers from the shop. The items numbers will be below the pictures and the link to the shop is to the right on my sidebar!
Here are the pics and the You Tube video for a much closer look at the details!

The beautiful flowers I used from Tresors de Luxe are the Tea Green Velvet and Rhinestone flowers (one of which, can be seen near the angel in this picture) Item Number: FL-004 and the Rhinestone Centered Ivory Organza flower
(located at the bottom of this photo) Item Number: FL-037

At the lower right edge of this photo (above the "Live" word) is an Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging. I actually was able to cut this lace into 3 separate beautiful trims and use it throughout the project! The piece shown here is the bottom edge of the lace. Item Number: LA-021 Underneath the word "live", I was so excited to be able to use this (6 row) Ivory Cotton Bridal Embroidered Lace!! Beautiful!! Item Number: LA-036

In this picture you will notice a jar of wooden hearts spilling out...I wrapped a cute floral trim around the jar. This is the top portion of the Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging that I cut apart. So, out of 1 yard of lace, I was able to get 3 separate designs of cute trim to use all around my project!

On this lower section, I used 2 more of the Tea Green Velvet and Rhinestone flowers and a stunning Venice Lace Heart Trim! Item Number: LA-004     Above the white bow on the lower right, you can see the middle portion of the lace (Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging) that I cut apart (Item Number: LA-021) It's peeking out! This portion of the lace has a swirl-type design and adds a soft, whimsical touch!

Here's the YT Video:

Again, here are the Item numbers to the products I used:
